A new book by Rachel Zerihan entitled The Cultural Politics of One-to-One Performance: Strange Duets, was recently published in the UK by Palgrave MacMillan. It includes discussion of five of Arsem’s one-to-one performances, as well as recognizing Boston artist Ron Wallace’s 1984 work, On the Emerald Necklace, as one of the earliest one-to-one performances. The late Ron Wallace was one of Boston’s most influential early performance artists. His support and thoughtful critiques of other artists’ work was significant in building the community of performance artists in Boston.
