Approaching an empty table.
My performance was in a square 13 ft x 13 ft space at the front of the gallery. Along the side overlooking the street were floor to ceiling windows.
I began in a corner in the back, sitting in a chair. Over three hours I gradually moved the chair closer and closer to a table that was in the corner next to the front windows, diagonally across the space. It had an empty chair on the side farthest from me.
I was hoping against hope that a particular person might appear and join me to sit at the table.
Yet the chair remained empty.
No one arrived as I drew close to the table.
Instead, delphiniums slowly arose from the seat of the chair, to hover in the air.
