Durational performance in the city's open-air vegetable market, as part of Infr'action Festival International d'Art Performance, Sète, France
Market Report II, Friday, 9/17
On Friday, we were in an outdoor vegetable market that lined both sides of several blocks of a street closed to traffic. As I looked at the tables of vegetables, I was struck by the beautiful shape and colors of a large savoy cabbage, as well as several large heads of frissée lettuce. Setting my chair at the foot of a walk light, I held the vegetables in my arms, eventually peeling off the layers of green on the cabbage. Each layer was a slightly different color of green, and as I stacked them up on my hand, the pile began to move as if it were alive.
