Durational performance in the city's open-air flower market, as part of Infr'action Festival
International d'Art Performance, Sète, France
My actions took place in the open markets that were in different parts of Sète on different days. I chose my location, materials and action on the day of the performance, after walking through the market to assess its dynamics and how I might fit within it.
Market Report I, Wednesday, 9/15
The first day I chose the weekly flower market that was set up in a park near the center of the city. Looking at the plants and flowers for sale, I was attracted to a small selection of cactuses. I chose one that was tall and skinny, perhaps feeling a kinship with it. I spent several hours contemplating it, taking on its stance, shading it from the sun, and experiencing its spines on my skin.
