The Institution of Knowledge exhibition showcases research-in-action performances and installations investigating the structures of knowledge that configure cultural and educational institutions and working to highlight the forms of knowledge that have historically been excised from such spaces. Each work in this exhibition suggests that, if we are to avoid re-inscribing Euro-Western colonial logics and hierarchies, those of us who work within contemporary institutions of knowledge must reorient our practices in ways that are radically relational, situated, and responsively accountable to not only which knowledges and bodies are included but how such bodies remake the pathways through which knowledge is developed and shared.

The exhibition is organized by Natalie Loveless and Geoffrey Rockwell, and features artists Freya Zinovieff, Marilyn Arsem, Zoe Todd, Peter Morin & Jimmie Kilpatrick, Stephanie Loveless, Christine (cricri) Bellerose & Sarah West, Sourayan Mookerjea, Paola Poletto & David Gauntlett, and Sono-(soro)ridades Collective (Amanda Gutiérrez, Gabriela Aceves Sepulveda, Laura Balboa, Victoria Polti, Ana Alfonsina Mora, Freya Zinovieff).

The Institution of Knowledge exhibition is a project of the Kule Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
