A durational performance contemplating the process of decay.
An early morning walk revealed the rusty remains of the machinery of the Dulan Sugar Factory, groaning and flapping in the wind. It was as if it were reliving memories of past automation, recollections of missing voices.
I hung bells on swinging metal. Then I set out sugar along beams, and gathered bowlfuls of rust with my hands. Climbing into the structure to sit, I slowly blended together the sugar and rust until they merged. I carefully placed the mixtures in different locations throughout the site. An act of restoration; a return of time.
